Hire A Hero - and Sidebar Updates

I was asked a few months ago to put up a link to the Hire A Hero website, and that email got lost in my inbox for awhile. Sorry!

I was told that
The people who are returning from our Global War on Terror are not finding appropriate civilian employment. Nationally, veterans 20 to 24 years old, have a much higher unemployment rate than non-veterans of the same age group. In August of 2005, veterans had an unemployment rate of 15.6% compared to their non-veteran counterparts who had an unemployment rate of 8.7%. US Dept. of Labor Release

Anyway, great program that helps servicemembers find jobs and is trying to turn that statistic around. If you are looking, try Hire A Hero. If you blog, consider a link so that someone who needs a job may be able to find a job.

I've added a couple of links lately, check them out. I've also noticed that dog tags are a popular theme for military and military-related sites. Cool.

Also, I'm getting close to cleaning up some "dead" links. If a blog hasn't been updated in 60 or so days, I'll pull the link from the sidebar and throw it into a favorites folder. I'll check back periodically in that folder and see if posting has started back up, and then put the link back up, but I don't like surfing through other folks' blogrolls and finding blogs that aren't being updated, so I won't put you through that either.

Thanks for reading JACK ARMY and let me know if there's anything else I can do to spruce up the place.
